In the modern Indian home, plywood is more than just a building material—it is the invisible backbone of your lifestyle. From the steam of a high-tech modular kitchen to the sanctuary of a child’s bedroom, every space demands a different level of resilience. At Thames Ply, we have moved beyond "standard" wood. We offer a sophisticated hierarchy of engineering grades—ranging from 4-Times Calibrated precision to E0 Health-Safe certification—ensuring that your foundation is as flawless as your finish.
1. The Standard Indian Grades (IS Codes)
These are the official certifications from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) that you will find stamped on every genuine sheet.

2. Specialized & Modern Grades (2026 Trends)
Beyond basic water resistance, advanced manufacturing has introduced grades for specific high-end needs:
Calibrated Plywood: Sanded on both sides to achieve a uniform thickness (e.g., exactly 18.0mm with ±0.1mm tolerance). This is the gold standard for modular kitchens where precision fitting is required for German hardware.
E0 / E1 Emission Grade: Refers to the level of formaldehyde (toxic gas) released by the glue. E0 is the safest for indoor air quality, especially in children's rooms.
Fire Retardant (FR): Treated with chemicals (IS:5509) to delay the spread of fire. Essential for commercial offices, hotels, and kitchens.
Structural Plywood: Higher density boards designed for load-bearing applications like flooring, roofing, or heavy-duty industrial shelving.
3. The Thames Ply Grading Hierarchy
Specifically for Thames Ply, the grades are structured to cater to different budget and precision levels:
Thames Titanium (IS:710 BWP): The ultra-premium choice. It is 4-Times Calibrated and E0 Certified. It uses 100% Gurjan face veneers for a mirror-smooth finish.
Thames Platinum (IS:710 BWP): A heavy-duty waterproof board with Glue Line Protection (GLP). It is specifically designed to resist termites and moisture in coastal or high-humidity cities.
Thames Prime 710 (BWP): A reliable, 100% waterproof board for general residential use.
Thames Prime MR (IS:303): The "Commercial" option for dry interiors like living room panels and bedroom cupboards.
